Melchor Contracting were engaged to construct all in-situ concrete works on the Yanchep Rail Extension project.

The Yanchep Rail Extension consists of a 14.5km extension of the Joondalup Line from the existing Butler Station further north to Yanchep. Works include 15 bridges and 3 train stations, these being at Alkimos, Eglinton and Yanchep.

Approximately 30,000 cubic meters of concrete was poured over a period of 24 months. This equates to approximately 5,550 tonnes of steel reinforcement.

The project works consist of:

  • bottom-up bridges
  • top-down bridges
  • piles up to 12m in depth
  • post-tensioning works
  • pre-cast concrete installation
  • large retaining walls (of varying widths, and up to 11 metres in height)
