2025 marks the third year that Melchor has supported Fair Game, a charity dedicated to delivering fitness programs and recycled sports equipment to remote and under-serviced communities, along with under privileged individuals across Australia. The organisation works directly with communities to promote healthy lifestyle choices, reduce the risk of lifestyle-related diseases, and foster social cohesion and mental well-being.

Fair Game’s programs are designed by healthcare professionals and aim to inspire children to stay active, improve long-term health outcomes through sport, and ensure that geographical location and socio-economic challenges are never a barrier to accessing health education and physical activity.

By recycling and redistributing sports equipment, Fair Game also contributes to environmental sustainability, while increasing cultural awareness and helping close the gap in life expectancy between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians.

Melchor People and Training Operations Coordinator, Mick Ablett said that supporting Fair Game is more than just a charitable gesture, it’s an opportunity to live out our values.

“It allows our team to connect with purpose, contribute to something bigger than ourselves, and actively support the health and wellbeing of communities that deserve greater access and opportunity,” Mick said.

“It’s incredibly rewarding to see our people rally around this cause.”

Melchor’s support for Fair Game takes two practical forms.

Firstly, the Company has introduced specially labelled blue donation bins at its Osborne Park office and project sites. These bins are available to staff, suppliers, and clients, who are encouraged to donate pre-loved sports gear that may be gathering dust in garages. Clear guidelines on what can and cannot be donated are displayed on the bins and available on the Fair Game website.

Secondly, Melchor teams regularly participate in “busy bee” volunteer sessions at Fair Game’s headquarters. These sessions involve cleaning, sorting, and preparing donated equipment for distribution. Since inception, volunteer slots have filled quickly, and enthusiasm for the initiative continues to grow.

Recently, Melchor expanded its engagement with Fair Game to Port Hedland, marking the beginning of a more regular commitment to deepen community impact.  Mick led the first session alongside several volunteers supporting kids’ sports clinics in the region.

Melchor remains committed to finding new ways to support Fair Game’s invaluable work. Through this partnership, the team reinforces its dedication to building healthier, more connected communities – one football, one volunteer hour, and one child at a time.
