In 2017, Talison Tianqi Lithium Australia commenced construction of a large chemical-grade lithium processing plant (CGP2).

During stage two of construction, Melchor supplied all labour, plant, temporary works and materials for formwork, steel fixing and concrete placement.

With the processing plant in the Kwinana Industrial Area now operational, Tianqi Lithium Australia produced Western Australia’s first battery-grade lithium hydroxide in May 2022. This product is supplied to global customers and is used in the manufacture of rechargeable batteries for the electric vehicle and energy storage system industries.

Works completed included:

  • 8,000 cubic metres of concrete within a typical light mining processing facility

  • Construction of eight major structures, reaching heights of up to 11 metres, including two-metre suspended slabs

  • Delivery of a high volume of reinforced walls and ground slabs
