The Bunbury Outer Ring Road (BORR) is a 27-kilometre four-lane, high standard road linking Forrest Highway to Bussell Highway. Once complete, the project will see:
• Improved freight efficiency
• Improved port access
• Improved road safety
• Decreased congestion

Melchor will be responsible for the construction of a new 382m long bridge (the longest in the South West). It will take the BORR over Golding Crescent, the Ferguson River, the freight rail line and Boyanup-Picton Road.

Melchor has been engaged to construct all in-situ concrete works (including formwork, reinforcement and concrete placement) and precast structures (including headstocks, Troff beams and barriers). Melchor will utilise an innovative falsework design to support the headstock to allow us to construct safely and efficiently.

On completion, the bridge will consist of:

  • 33 piers (of 1.5m diameter each)
  • 11 headstocks (at 58T each)
  • 60 Troff beams
  • 800T reinforcement
  • 4200m3 of concrete
