The Kwinana Waste to Energy Plant is the first of its kind in Australia. The $700M project will provide enough energy to power up to 50,000 homes. Up to 400,000 tonnes of household, commercial and industrial waste will be diverted from landfill, thermally treated and converted to steam to produce electricity.

Melchor Contracting were awarded the Civil Package which comprises of detailed earthworks and the construction of the major concrete structures including formwork, reinforcement and concrete pour. Also the installation of underground services including process water, storm water, sewage, chemical, firefighting network, electrical and earthing.

Once complete Melchor Contracting will have poured approximately 9300m3 of concrete including 25m high walls within the Refuse Bunker Building and installed approximately 1800 tonnes of reinforcement.
