Melchor have been awarded the Design and Construct of Forrestfield Multi Storey Carpark.

The carpark will be take design intent from the neighbouring Forrestfield Station to create a holistic approach to the setting of the new development.

One of the most prominent features of the carpark will be the screening along the facade of the carpark. This will act to tie together the station with its folding roof forms and the carpark and provide an aesthetically pleasing view. It will also become a wayfinding device to announce the car park and provide visibility for the precinct.

The carpark layout is designed to work with maximum efficiency and provide a clear, easy to navigate and logical situation for users within vehicles or for foot traffic, with no blind aisles. Open stair wells will help in providing increased visibility for a safer structure. A refinement of the layout from concept design develops this legible layout to create an easy circulation flow and clear demarcation of the short term and long-term parking bays. A clearer and easier to navigate exit has been provide on the East side also.

The proposed structural system consists of a concrete floor structure utilising Precast Concrete Shell Beam supporting Prestressed Hollowcore Floor Planks. The beams span the 7.2m orientation with the 400 deep hollow core planks spanning in the 17m orientation. An 80mm thick cast insitu topping ties the floor system together. The on top floor a 100mm thick topping is adopted to ensure transverse post tension ducts can be installed centrally within the topping to aid with creating a watertight topping. The columns supporting the floor system consists of cast insitu concrete supported by isolated pad footings.

Along with above works Melchor will also install stormwater drainage, firewater systems, gravity drainage, lifts and all electrical works including fitout, testing and commissioning.
